Band Protocol v3 Now Live on Mainnet: A New Era of Decentralized Data Infrastructure
Band v3 Mainnet is Live

We are thrilled to announce the mainnet launch of Band Protocol v3, marking a significant milestone in our mission to provide an open, scalable, and decentralized data feeds solution for the Web3 ecosystem.

This release is the culmination of extensive engineering, rigorous testing, and invaluable feedback from our validator and developer communities. Band v3 introduces key architectural enhancements that deliver unparalleled performance, security, and interoperability for decentralized applications across various blockchain networks.

What is Band Protocol v3?

Band Protocol v3 is the next-generation upgrade to Band Protocol v2 — purpose-built to be the data layer that delivers secure, real-time data for blockchain applications. It bridges the gap between the off-chain and on-chain worlds by establishing an open standard for connecting Web3 smart contracts to Web2 APIs.

This upgrade introduces a fundamentally re-architected decentralized data feed network optimized for low-latency price feeds, massive symbol scalability, multi-chain data delivery, and a developer-first integration experience. ****Whether you're building in DeFi, gaming, or RWAs Band v3 provides the speed, reliability, and flexibility needed to operate at scale.

Performance Benchmarks

Band v3 delivers significant performance improvements over Band v2. These enhancements reflect a fundamental shift in architecture and execution mechanics. With this release, block times have been accelerated by 3x—decreasing the feed update interval from 6 seconds to just 1 second. Additionally, symbol capacity has increased 10x, and daily throughput has scaled by another order of magnitude—all with decentralized threshold signing (TSS) underpinning the network’s cryptographic trust.

Key Innovations in Band v3

1. Signaling Hub

The Signaling Hub empowers developers and projects to list their tokens on BandChain. Users can participate in voting to determine which token symbols should be included in Band v3’s Concurrent Price Stream. This mechanism ensures that feed parameters such as interval and deviation are optimized for the most voted symbols.

2. Concurrent Price Stream

This module serves as a repository for asset prices reported by validators. Validators aggregate data based on signals from the Signaling Hub and feed the data according to specified intervals and deviations. Once consolidated, the data is then transformed into an Aggregated Price, which is then prepared for submission.

3. Data Tunnel

The Data Tunnel module ensures seamless delivery of aggregated prices to destination chains. After aggregation, prices are relayed through the Data Tunnel, with all data routes visible on Cosmoscan. Currently, only the IBC and IBC-Hook routes are available for relaying processes. The additional routes, like TSS and Router Protocol routes, will soon be available for use within a few weeks after the launch. However, future updates will include additional relaying routes via other interoperability layers such as Axelar.

Architectural Enhancements

Custom Mempool Upgrade

In Band Protocol v3, we introduced a customized mempool with dedicated lanes for different transaction types. This structure ensures that mission-critical data, such as price feeds, signature aggregation, and validator reporting, are never blocked or delayed by non-essential traffic activity. It also discourages network spamming, improving overall security and efficiency.

Expanding Interoperability

Interoperability is a cornerstone of Band Protocol v3. With this mainnet launch, we’re working on expanding our Data Tunnel module to include:

  • IBC and IBC-Hook Routes: Enable Cosmos IBC and IBC-Hook-enabled chains to receive BandChain price data directly through existing token transfer channels.
  • TSS Route: Coming in a few weeks following validator migration to Band v3 Mainnet and establishment of the TSS validator group.
  • Router Protocol Route: Facilitates secure cross-chain data messaging to non-IBC chains, including EVM-based chains and (soon) Solana. This route has already been successfully tested and will be available for production use cases soon.

Strengthening Decentralization

Band v3 mainnet officially launches with 10 pioneering validators securing our network from day one — including Cosmostation, Forbole, Polkachu, Nansen, Citadel. One, Imperator, Active Nodes, Binance Validator, HashKey Cloud, and Highstakes.

These early validators have played a crucial role in bringing Band v3 to life, from participating in multiple testnet phases to supporting the mainnet rollout from the start. We deeply appreciate their long-standing contributions and trust in our long-term vision.

Looking ahead, over 40 additional validators are actively joining the network, many of whom have already participated in the testnets and are now in the process of migrating to v3. This growing validator set will continue to enhance the decentralization, security, and resilience of the BandChain as we scale across more chains and applications.

We’re excited to welcome more validators into the Band v3 ecosystem as we enter this next chapter of decentralized data infrastructure.
