Introducing Membit Season 1: Reward Eligibility Criteria

It has been just over 2 months since the launch of Membit’s first version, and in that short time, we have grown to nearly 95,000 data hunters worldwide. This milestone demonstrates the strong demand for real-time, community-powered context. With such rapid growth, however, come new challenges. To keep Membit fair, accurate, and sustainable, we must refine how rewards are distributed as we begin Season 1.

Membit Vision and Values

At first glance, Membit might seem like another point farming or airdrop campaign, but beneath the surface, it is far more ambitious. Membit is building a context layer for AI, designed as a public good where contributions from people on social media help large language models and AI systems gain real-world understanding. With a strong belief in the foundational principles of crypto, Proof of Work, Membit aims to reward contributors proportionately for their "work".But contrary to short-term airdrop campaigns, Membit is built for the long game. Membit's ambitions lie far beyond point accumulation and reward distribution. Great systems take time to mature, and Membit is no exception. Season 1 marks the next phase in creating a sustainable ecosystem where rewards go to genuine contributors. From the beginning, Membit’s design has been about fairness, authenticity, and long-term value creation. With this vision in mind, we now need to address the problems that surfaced during our early growth.

The Problems We Must Solve

Sybil Accounts and Fake Submissions

One of the biggest challenges we face is the rise of sybil accounts and fake submissions. Our backend data reveals a significant number of duplicate or automated accounts that inflate participation without adding value. In addition, fake or low-quality posts damage the health of Membit’s clustering machine and pollute the knowledge base, resulting in wasted resources and inaccurate outputs.

Inactivity of Hunters

Another challenge is inactivity. Although nearly 95,000 hunters have signed up, only about one-third remain consistently active. Membit is designed as a real-time context layer, and its value depends on contributions that are constant and fresh. Without regular engagement, Membit risks losing its edge as a living stream of human knowledge.

To overcome these challenges and preserve Membit’s integrity, we’re introducing a set of eligibility criteria designed to reward genuine, consistent, and high-quality contributors. These criteria will ensure that only active and authentic Hunters benefit from the right incentives, strengthening Membit’s ecosystem, improving data reliability, and keeping our context layer fresh and trustworthy, pushing forward AI development.

Sybil Prevention Criteria (Ban)

A significant amount of malicious activities has been detected by our internal system. There are actions that our team has deemed unacceptable and so must be addressed in order to prevent unhealthy practices from seeping into our ecosystem. To maintain fairness and protect data integrity, we are enforcing stricter Sybil prevention measures. Hunter who are in one of these criteria will be banned instantly, effective after this announcement.

  1. Suspended accounts: Any account suspended by X will be automatically disqualified from contributing data to Membit. Since these accounts cannot provide value to our Context Layer, they will be excluded from all rewards.
  2. Malicious and Unauthorized Access to API: Any attempt to manipulate the system, including automating submissions, artificially inflating post counts via unauthorized API access, or any other malicious behaviors, constitutes cheating. Such actions undermine fair play and will result in an immediate ban. Through these measures, Membit reaffirms its commitment to a trusted, transparent, and Sybil-resistant data ecosystem where genuine contributions are rewarded and malicious behavior has no place.

Activeness Criteria

As mentioned earlier, one of the key challenges we face is Hunter inactivity. To ensure Membit always delivers fresh, relevant, and up-to-date data for AI, we are introducing an eligibility requirement based on activity.

A Data Hunter’s eligibility will be calculated based on overall consistency, including the consistent posts submission, total points earned, and the overall activeness since linking their X account to Membit.

These requirements are intentionally designed to be lenient and inclusive, reflecting our appreciation for every member of the community. If you’re an active user, scrolling daily or even every other day, you’ll easily meet the criteria. This approach ensures that Membit continues to thrive with genuine, consistent contributions from its Hunters. If you are a consistent user, there should be nothing to worry about.

Community

Membit is more than just a scroll-to-earn extension. It is a growing ecosystem powered by its Hunter community. We value those who contribute to the community just as much as those who actively hunt for quality data.

Hunters can earn points multipliers by joining the Hunter community and obtaining the Hunter, Ranger, and Champion roles on Discord. Additional multipliers are also available through participation in campaigns and quests on Galxe, rewarding members who stay engaged and contribute beyond data hunting.

This program is important because a strong, active community is the backbone of Membit’s success. It fosters collaboration, encourages accountability, and ensures that Membit continues to evolve through shared effort and genuine contribution. In short, the more you contribute, both as a data hunter and as a community builder, the more points you earn and the greater impact you have on the Membit ecosystem.

Membit Staking Program

Membit has always prioritized quality over quantity when it comes to data. This principle has been part of our DNA since day one, and now, we’re taking it to the next level with the introduction of the Membit Staking Program. This program is designed to incentivize Data Hunters to protect the integrity of the system by allowing them to put real stakes on the line. In other words, Hunters now have the opportunity to gain more skin in the game.

Hunters who stake BAND tokens in the program will receive a multiplier boost in Season 1. Staking acts as both a Proof of Humanity and a quality control mechanism for all content contributions.

  • Quality Enforcement: Submitting fake, low-quality, or malicious content can lead to a loss of stake.
  • Rewarding Integrity: Honest, consistent, and valuable contributors earn proportionate rewards based on both stake size and participation time.

The Membit Staking Program enhances the entire ecosystem by reinforcing data authenticity, ensuring that only high-quality and trustworthy information flows through the platform. It also strengthens Sybil resistance by discouraging malicious or automated accounts through real economic commitment. Ultimately, it upholds ecosystem integrity by rewarding contributors who actively and honestly support Membit’s mission to build a reliable context layer for AI.

The Membit Staking Program will launch soon. Stay tuned for official updates on Band’s X and Discord, as well as Membit’s X.

Introducing New Points Distribution Mechanism

Points are awarded every 60 minutes based on how engaging, unique, timely, and relevant your posts are. The fresher and more impactful your contributions, the more you earn. All hunters start with a 10,000-point cap per epoch, which grows with consistent, high-quality activity up to 200,000 points per epoch.

Note: The full logic is more complex, but here’s what you need to know.
All of the above still holds true. However, to prevent point inflation and keep rewards fair, we’re introducing a new percentile-based distribution that ties earning to your rank each epoch. From now on, if you’re below the 50th percentile, each improvement in rank will boost your points more easily, helping active contributors move up faster. If you’re above the 50th percentile, each step higher adds points more gradually, with diminishing gains as you near the maximum of 200,000 points. There is no hard cutoff; all hunters can earn points, but your rewards will scale with your standing in the community, keeping the system sustainable and fair for everyone.

New Leaderboard

We’ve received feedback from the Hunter community regarding confusion around leaderboard points and rankings. One common misconception has been that “the points on my leaderboard don’t match what I see on the extension.” This difference exists because the current leaderboard is calculated on a 7-day rolling period. To address this and ensure full transparency, we’re introducing a new leaderboard system that better reflects each Hunter’s contribution and aligns with the reward eligibility criteria announced earlier.

What’s New

  • All-Time Points: The leaderboard will now display your total accumulated points since joining Membit.
  • Reward Proportionality: Your position on the leaderboard will directly determine your allocation from the reward pool.

The 7-day leaderboard will still remain for tracking short-term activity, but these new features will be added in the next update. We’ll share another announcement once the upgraded leaderboard goes live.

This Is Just the Beginning

The explosive growth of Membit in such a short period has been inspiring, but growth alone is not enough. To make Membit truly valuable, we need to reward real hunters, eliminate fake activity, and ensure that contributions remain active and fresh. Season 1 reflects these priorities by requiring staking as a sign of commitment and consistent activity as proof of value. Membit is here to stay. Together, we can build a fair and sustainable context layer for AI, one that rewards genuine participation and strengthens the foundation of this new ecosystem. The journey has just begun, and we are excited to continue it with you.
